Make Your Own Notebook Cover or Passport Cover, Sunday 06/07/2026, Noon-4:30pm Washington, DC
Make your own leather notebook or passport cover! Katie from Stitch & Rivet supplies the know-how, tools, and thread; you supply the leather and your notebook or passport. During the workshop, you will choose between a notebook and a passport cover, make edits and adjustments to a pattern to make it your own, and construct your leather cover. If it looks like you will not finish during the workshop, we will set up your project to finish at home. Please be sure to bring your filler notebook and any items you wish to keep in your cover (e.g., pens, pencils, ID, etc.).

Skills learned in this workshop:
laying out a pattern and making pattern edits
cutting leather with a clicker press and die (optional)
cutting leather with a blade
edge finishing (bevel, sand, burnish to a high shine)
hand stitching without a stitching pony
Leather needs for this workshop vary depending on the project you are making. All projects should be made with 3.5oz to 4.5oz vegetable-tanned leather. If you have questions about buying leather, please reach out to Katie asap, or indicate it in the pop-up form at checkout.
One project panel at least 13” x 11” or 8” x 18”, or more for a larger notebook cover or to add multiple pockets/pen loops, etc.
One 8”x 18” leather panel or more for a passport cover.

cardstock for making your pattern
thread in a variety of colors

Workshop tickets are non-refundable but transferable, so you can gift or sell your ticket to someone else if you cannot attend the class. Light snacks and water/sodas will be provided, and there are several nearby restaurants for a lunch break if desired.
